The all-new MG Comet EV has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 7.98 lakh, ex-showroom. It is now India’s most affordable electric vehicle and undercuts the Tiago EV by Rs 71,000.

The MG Comet EV has looks that are polarising. Some love it, some just don’t. It measures 2,974 mm in length, 1,505 mm in width, 1,650 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,010 mm.

MG Motor India is offering the Comet EV in a total of five colour shades. They are Candy White with Starry Black, Apple Green with Starry Black, Starry Black, Aurora Silver and Candy White.

The new MG Comet gets a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and it’s claimed to offer a driving range of 230 km per charge. It gets a single electric motor that churns out 42 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque.

The MG Comet EV can be fully charged in 7 hours using a regular AC charger. It’s worth mentioning that the Comet doesn’t support DC fast charging.

In terms of features, the Comet sports twin screens, one for the infotainment system and the other one for instrumentation. It gets wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play, OTA updates, three drive modes (Eco, Normal & Sport) and full keyless go.

The safety features of the MG Comet include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors with a rear parking camera, a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and more.
